Canvas: How to Copy Course Content into a New Course
print icon

Important: As a best practice you may want to follow your Canvas Administrator's advice, since there are multiple ways to copy content into a new course.

How to Copy the Entire Course

  1. Open the course that has the content you would like to copy into a new course shell.

  2. Select course Settings. Under Course Status, select Copy this Course.

  3. Enter the details for the new course and select Create Course.
Note: You may select specific content rather than All content.

  4. The new course shell will open. Under Current Jobs you will see Course Copy Running.

  5. Once the status shows Completed, the course content will have imported and may be found in Modules.

How to Copy from Canvas Commons

If content has already been loaded into Commons, you may download the course from that location. Please view the following KBA on How to Import G-W Content From Canvas Commons
