Steps to Publish and Unpublish Course Content in Canvas

Published resources can be viewed by the students, while unpublished resources are hidden from student view. Once an instructor has added content to a course, they may decide which materials/resources to publish and unpublish for their students.

  1. Log in to Canvas and select a specific course with G-W content to Publish and Unpublish.
  2. Under the Resources module, there are a number of materials available for the instructor to publish or unpublish from student view.
  3. To Publish material, toggle the publish/unpublish icon to turn it green. That indicates the students will be able to see that resource in their course.
  4. To Unpublish material, toggle the publish/unpublish icon to keep it transparent (see image with red arrow above). That indicates the students will not be able to see that resource in their course.
  5. An instructor can select Student View to ensure the material that s/he wants the students to see is available to them and the unpublished material is not visible in their course.
  6. After selecting Student View, an instructor will be able to see what their students see.

Note: Instructors are still able to access any and all material that is unpublished for their students.
