In this second installment, we explore stage 2 within the Understanding by Design Framework—Determining Acceptable Evidence. A key stage that requires educators to ask, ‘how will students and teachers know if the desired results have been achieved?’. Stage 2 of UbD is important to educators because it hones the focus of your teaching and ensures that standards are being met. By the end of this session, you will know the 6 facets of understanding, how to use the components of Stage 1 to create authentic assessments (performance tasks), the importance of rubrics and criteria, and develop a plan to utilize it within your current teaching practices.
