Health Canvas: Importing Health 2025 Question Bank/Exam Files into Canvas

The Comprehensive Health, Essential Health, and their Supplements©2025, are designed differently than our previous health titles. The online textbook and its resources are divided into modules and lessons rather than chapters. Therefore, an instructor will need to import the question banks/exam files by module rather than one import for the exams in the entire textbook.

Note: In previous editions, instructors imported all Exam Questions for the entire book and all Pretest Questions for the entire book. In the newest edition, an instructor will import Exam Questions for Module 1, Pretest Questions for Module 1, etc. This provides the instructor with more control of the content and may import only those module exams they prefer.

Steps to Import Question Bank/Exam Files by Module:

  1. From your Canvas course, select the Online Instructor Resources link.

  2. Select a specific Module whose Question Bank/Exam Files you would like to import.

  3. Select the Module Assessments & Answer Keys button.

  4. Scroll down to the IMS QTI 1.1+ (For use in Canvas) section and select the Module Questions link to download the zip folder of Exam Files for this Module.

  5. The .zip folder should be in your Downloads folder. Right click on the zip folder and select Extract All. Now there will be an unzipped folder of those exams.

  6. Go back to your Canvas course and select Course Settings.

  7. Select Import Course Content.

  8. Under Import Content, select the drop-down menu and choose QTI .zip file.

  9. Find the unzipped folder and open it. Inside you will see 4 additional .zip folders (these do not need to be extracted). You will import the .zip folders you want from this module (i.e. preassessment, standard exam, etc.).

  10. After selecting a specific exam file, select the Import button.

  11. Repeat Steps 8-10 until you have all question bank files you would like in this course.
