Common Cartridge Implementation with LTI 1.1 

This documentation provides the LTI Tool Configuration for G-W EduHub LMS-Ready Content. 

 

Common Cartridge v1.1 includes: 

• Online Textbook 
• Online Instructor Resources 
• Drill and Practice 
• Other components vary by title 

 

LTI Tool Configuration 

When setting up the site-wide LTI configuration, use the following settings and parameters:

 

• Tool Name Suggestion:
  • G-W Online Textbooks 
• Tool Launch URL: 
  • https://www.g-wonlinetextbooks.com/api/lti/access 
• Key & Secret: 
  • Your Key and Secret will be sent to you through our ticketing system when your cartridge is sent to you.
• Domain:
  • www.g-wonlinetextbooks.com 
• Custom Parameter: 
  • use_role_info=true 
• Launch Settings (Optional): 
  • Open LTI links in a new window 

 

Quality Control 

After implementing the Common Cartridge in your platform, please verify the following: 

• Instructors have access to both student and instructor content 
• Students only have access to student content

 

Content Activation 

CCL:

Instructor Activation 

Instructors must select the “INSTRUCTOR – Activate Your Subscription” link to gain access to the content. When the cartridge is imported, instructors will want to make this hidden from students. Note: Instructors should not select the student activation link, as it will count against the total number of student activations. 

 

Student Activation 

Students must select the “Activate Your Subscription” link within the course to gain access to the content.  Instructors will want to make sure this is published and available to their students.

 

CCK:

Student and Instructor Activation 

Students and instructors must select the “Activate Your Subscription” link within the course and enter the provided key to gain access to the content.

 

Instructor subscriptions can be activated using the key that is provided through our ticket system email when the cartridge is sent.

G-W supports the following Common Cartridge and LTI specifications: 

• Common Cartridge v1.1, v1.2, v1.3, Thin 
• LTI v1.3, LTI v1.1 

 

LTI Parameters Passed 

The following list shows the LTI 1.1 parameters that are stored in our system. Only the parameters with an asterisk (*) are required. 

• roles* (system/course role, i.e. Learner) 
• user_id* (LMS user account identifier) 
• lis_person_contact_email_primary* (email) 
• lis_person_name_family (last name) 
• lis_person_name_full (full name) 
• lis_person_name_given (first name)

In these cases, it may be necessary to allow certain domains and IP address on your school’s web content filtering and e-mail spam filtering systems. Please check with your Information Technology department to assist in the request.
